| 7. Petit Trianon - Another place for the
King to go for some peace. A bed of geraniums runs the length of a lawn in front of the
Petit Trianon villa, in Andre Le Notre's formal gardens at the Palace of Versailles. The
royal villa, designed by Gabriel, was built for Louis XV between 1751 and 1768, and it
later became a favourite retreat of Marie Antoinette. |
6. Grand Trianon - Go inside if time will
allow it. Conical topiaries punctuate the box-edged flower beds of Andre Le Notre's formal
gardens in font of the Grand Trianon, at the Palace of Versailles, in France. The
single-story royal villa was built in 1687 as a retreat for King Louis XIV of France. |
| Queen's Hamlet - Marie Antoinette built this so she could
pretend she was a peasant girl. |

Church that you can see on your right just before you walk into the Front gates of the
Palace.
